17 appearances (over 17 pages) from issue no. 27 (25/03/78) to no. 43 (15/07/78).
All were printed in black and white.

Eddie Daring (the name is a play on Eddie Waring) is a Junior Rugby League Star who plays for (we find out in issue no. 31) Daring United. Opponents mentioned are Blackpudding Rovers (29) and Rough Rovers (31 and 39). He lives with his 'Mama' (she thinks she's posh) and 'Da' ('Stan' - issue no. 33) in a house called 'Tripe View' somewhere in the North of England. Cue dropped aitches, long vowels and references to tripe, black pudding and whippets.

Although Randolph Rat (described as the "Original Dirty Rat") is given co-billing, his appearance is only pertinent in four stories (31, 36, 38 and 43). He is missing from six and the other seven appearances are cameo.

Dad's dog, 'Zippet t' Whippet', is seen in issue nos. 27, 28, 29, 32, 33, 35, and 38. Mum's dog is a nameless poodle that appears in issue nos. 27, 28, 29, 35, 38 and 42. In issue no. 38, all three pets are entered in the local pet show.

The Eddie Daring Crowd - three Eddie Waring lookalikes joined at the shoulders and who say in unison such things as "Ooarr! Loovrly try, Eddie lad!", "Errrly Baaaath!", "It's a try!" and "Eddie Darin' gets an oopanoondah!" - appear regularly.

Plug is featured in the last frame of the story in issue no. 39 as "the face that launched a thousand chips."

In issue no. 43 the local Pet Store is described as "Suppliers to Hugh's Zoo."
