32 appearances (over 32 pages) from issue no.44 (22/07/78) to no. 75 (24/02/79).

'Boom boom' as in:
Q: What do you get if you cross a karate expert with a pig?
A: Pork Chops!
The phrase was popularised by Basil Brush.
Quick fire, two line jokes were submitted by readers and presented on black and white photos of contemporary celebrities, or other stock photographs, with speech balloons. No jokes were used more than once, but photos were often reused. The first instance occurred as early as the second week when a photo of Peter Shilton running in a pancake race with a bevy of beauties appeared in the following issue. A couple of photos were used three times - a photo of a werewolf (issue nos. 54, 61 and 70) and one of Windsor Davies and Don Estelle (58, 63 and 75).
Clare Davis, Wakefield -
Why is tennis a noisy game?
Because each player raises a racket!
- was the first reader to be credited.
Heather Kenney, Altrincham -
Did you do a lot of swimming in Greece?
No I swam in water like everyone else!
- was the last.
The prizes were the same as those for letters printed on the Plug Sports and Social Club page, viz. two supergoon badges and a fabulous folding sports chart or (if you were really lucky) a supergoon cap and vest.
Plug was always around to add his comments or even supply the punch line, and the odd joke appeared as a drawn cartoon (issue nos. 45, 46, 54, 63, and 67). The only other PLUG strip characters to appear were Doctor Rotcod and Drib (issue no. 63). They appeared in a frame that was taken from their first story in issue no. 44.
Peter Shilton appears again...(one week later)
